Implemented statewide
health insurance exchanges so that self-employed and small business owners
can buy portable health insurance. Such a program would allow
businesses and individuals to pool purchasing power for insurance while
offering a wide array of health coverage that individual participants can
select. Such a method would allow employers to continue to contribute
to the purchasing of health insurance for employees while not over
burdening them with cost. It would also allow two-salary families to
take advantage of both employers’ health insurance contributions, as
opposed to choosing one over the other.
